“Sigma has produced some really fine lenses over the past few years, including the 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM (which we liked a lot when we reviewed it in 2008) and the 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM. But the 35mm F1.4 DG HSM may possibly be its best yet. In fact it’s one of those rare lenses for which finding any fault seems almost churlish, so good is its overall performance.”
„Sigma has done it again. They created an incredibly affordable and high performance tool for professionals. I have to say all of their prime lenses can barely compare to their zoom gear. I don’t really understand it, but I don’t really care. I’m not ashamed to use a third party brand as long as they perform as good or better than the name brand stuff. Nikon photographers? This is the lens you want. Unload your Nikon 35mm while you still can.”
„If you are considering the 35mm lens, I can’t recommend Sigma’s enough. For those of you looking on warily from a distance, I urge you to give this guy a shot. Rent it for a few days to test it out. If you’ve had a bad experience with a Sigma in the past (I know the feeling, it’s happened to me too), give them one more chance to win you back. After shooting with this lens, I firmly believe they won’t let you down again“
“This lens kicks butt, takes names, and basically posterizes the manufacturers who make the cameras this lens will fit on.”
„The Sigma has the best results of all 1.4/35 lenses, tested by us so far in the categories of resolution, distortion, chromatic aberration and coma correction. It also fares very well in the case of astigmatism correction and the autofocus accuracy, being one of the cheapest lenses in this class of equipment. I think I don’t have to add anything more…“
„Discerning photographers have always understood the quality benefit of buying prime lenses over zooms, The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM is a great example of why this is worthwhile. This Sigma lens scores higher than any other lens in its focal length, including many that are much more expensive, and is among the highest, for sharpness, of any tested by DxOMark on a Canon body.”
