Genau ein Monat ist seit dem ersten ausführlichen Test des Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art vergangen. Üblicherweise werden in so kurzer Zeit nicht genug Reviews eines Objektivs veröffentlicht, um überhaupt daran zu denken eine Linksammlung zu posten. Das 50mm Art ist aber alles andere als ein übliches Objektiv. Wie kein anderes davor wurde es von einem riesigen Medienrummel begleitet. Die Review-Seiten haben anscheinend alles andere links liegen gelassen um es so schnell wie möglich zu testen. „I really don’t have a lot to add to what has already been said. From a resolution standpoint the Sigma is nearly as good as the Zeiss Otus, and clearly better than the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L. It does this at a price point far lower than either of the others. There may (or may not) be some sample variation, but I won’t know for certain until we’ve tested a lot more copies – but even the weakest two copies of the Sigma were clearly better than any of the Canon’s.”
“From the lab test results, the Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art goes a long way to living up the high expectations that have been placed on it. Indeed it’s one of the best-performing lenses of its type, bettered only by the much-more expensive Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 – and even then, not by all that much. “As part of the company’s new Global Vision Sigma’s reimagining of their premium lenses is reaping dividends. The 50mm f1.4 DG HSM A is every bit as good as the earlier 35mm f1.4 model, in fact it’s slightly better in outright sharpness and uniformity. If there’s a downside it’s that lenses built with few compromises are generally large and heavy, but at least Sigma isn’t making you pay through your wallet. At $949, the new lens isn’t much more expensive than the firm’s high-speed 35mm, and is similarly competitive when compared to rival offerings from the big-brands.”
“Sigma’s 50mm f1.4 Art DG HSM is an exceptional lens. Starting with the design, it very much is in line with the company’s 35mm f1.4 Art optic. The outside feels and looks like something that Hasselblad might make. It feels just so great in your hands that you’d never want to let it go. In fact, if you’re a big fan of the 50mm field of view you might never want to give it up.
Users also just won’t be able to complain about the image quality. The sharpness, bokeh, colors and look are top of the class despite some personal gripes. We feel like most users will be very satisfied. Once again, if you purchase the lens and are still looking at/talking about how the Zeiss performs better, then you should probably just go for the Zeiss. Again though, not everyone can afford it.

“Overall I feel that these two lenses are pretty similar, but if I had to give the edge to one lens, I would personally go with the Sigma. The Canon does have the advantage of being able to go to F/1.2, but in the real world, the difference between F/1.2 and F/1.4 in your shots will be negligible.”

“The Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 Art is the most exciting lens we’re likely to review this year. All competing lenses from Canon and Nikon fell short when compared to the resolving power of the 50mm Art. “As it stands, this is one of the top autofocusing 50mm f/1.4’s money can buy. Sharp, contrasty, and built like a tank, videographers and portrait photographers looking for a cheaper alternative to the Otus might be swayed by the fact that this lens is a quarter of the price (and features AF). But what’s the appeal of this lens over it’s EX counterpart, which is half the price (or any other proprietary 50mm f/1.4 lens for that matter)?
For starters, the 50mm f/1.4 Art lens offers better vignetting control, less distortion, closer focusing and better magnification. For videographers, the focus ring on the Art series alone absolutely makes it a better option than the EX, which frankly, is not great for rack focusing due to a somewhat stiff, scratchy focus ring with a limited turning radius.”
“If you want top notch image quality in a 50mm prime, the Sigma is the right way to go. While it isn’t the affordable compact pal that the $400 Canon 50mm f/1.4 is, it will compete with the very best 50mm primes out there. Don’t buy the ridiculous $4000 Zeiss Otus lens (not that anyone really can anyways). The Sigma is nearly as good, and will make a permanent dent in your gear back for a very reasonable $950.”

“So yea, wow. Sigma has once again impressed me beyond belief by what they have produced in a prime fast aperture lens. So much so that as as I said above. Sigma. Call me. My money is ready for a 85F1.4 Art lens. I don’t know what made you decide to step up like you have, but you have put Canon and Nikon on a run for their money and I like it. Sigma Nailed this. Nikon and Canon have the camera bodies and Sigma has added a helluva contender to the lineup of lenses to let the photographers shoot the way that THEY want to shoot. When students ask what to buy when the Nikon or Canon equivalent is a bit out of the price range Sigma is now my go to answer. I challenge Tamron and Tokina to prove me wrong. Everything I’ve touched or seen out of Sigma in the last 2 years has not only met but far surpassed my expectations from not just the Sigma name, but the Nikon or Canon name as well. If you don’t own a 50mm lens (and I am a firm believer that everyone should have a 50mm prime of some kind in their bag) then the Sigma is more than just an option; This time it’s the cream of the crop.”
“The Sigma lens is in a unique position among the competitors. It is higher in price than the Canon or Nikon 50/1.4 lenses but lower in price that the 50/1.2 lenses. It hovers in the middle. Technicalities and performance are significant issues when considering a lens, but equal and sometimes more important is price. I would find it difficult to justify paying over $1,000 (the list price of the Sigma 50/1.4 is $1300 but on sale for pre-order for $949) for a 1.4 lens when for a little more I could get a 1.2 lens that has the feel and look I appreciate and fits my personal “brand loyalty” to Canon.”

Sigma is reventing lenses that no one else thought was possible and since the Sigma announced the “Sigma Global Vision”, every new Art, Sports & Contemporary line lenses released was released as an award-winning lens. (Why I said that? Because every lens went on to bag awards). From what we have seen throughout the review, the NEW Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM ART is worth every cent although the asking price is nowhere near cheap. Then again, we cannot place a price on image quality and build quality right?”
